Coyote Bounty Bill Introduced

Coyote Bounty Bill

L.D. 640 bill would award free antlerless deer permits

Rep. Paul T. Davis-R (Sangerville) is sponsoring L.D. 640, “An Act to Encourage Coyote Management”.  The bill would award a free antlerless deer permit to anyone who kills ten coyotes in one year.  The clear message sent by Rep. Davis is that he doesn’t want coyotes to kill deer (including does) that humans should be killing.  The irony of this misguided bill may well be less deer and more coyotes in the Maine woods.  If you want to contact Rep. Davis to express your opinions, you can reach him by phone at (207) 876-4047 (home) or by email at RepDavis@midmaine.com.

Legislative Update:

The legislative committee voted 7-4 Ought Not To Pass.  The bill will now go to the full legislature.
