In October 2006, this 91 lb. male wolf was shot and killed as it walked through a farm field.  It was killed some twenty miles south of an area in Quebec where a wolf pack was believed to have been established.  Neither state nor federal officials took any action to alert hunters in Vermont to the possible presence of wolves.  The shooter was not prosecuted.
